The Smokehouse produces a wide selection of smoked fish, salmon, mussels and pate - all use no artificial preservatives. The secret to making these products so good is that they are moist, not too salty and have a delicate, manuka smoked flavour.
Our fish and mussels are ideal in salads, antipasto platters and canapes or simply reheated to make delicious hot dishes. Fish is best served at room temperature or even warmed slightly to release the delicate flavours and oils.
All fish is vacuum packed and whilst refrigerated has a shelf life of up to 28 days. Mussels can be eaten chilled, warmed or at room temperate and our pates are best consumed at room temperature.

King Salmon

Our flagship product, New Zealand King Salmon fresh from the pristine waters of the Marlborough Sounds.Grown free of vaccines and antibiotics it is very high in Omega-3. Pink flesh, soft in texture and full of succulent flavour.

Also try our delicious smoke salmon fins, just heat them up on the BBQ as a delicious appetiser.

 

Pates

Smoked Salmon, Smoked Fish and Smoke Mussels.  All our pates are handmade from the finest selection of smoked King Salmon, smoked fish and smoked greelipped mussels combined with a few secret ingredients.  Available as individual pottles or a hand tri-pack.

Best served at room temperature with crusty bread or your favourite crackers.

 

Smoked White Fish

White Warehou

Sourced from the deeper waters around Southern New Zealand it has white flesh, firm texture and is utterly delicious. Great as it is or in salads, pasta etc. High oil content and excellent source of Omega-3.

Blue Warehou

Found in the cooler coastal waters around the South Island in 20-200m water. It has a stronger flavour than the white which makes it ideal for cooking in pies, hash etc. Medium oil content.

Southern King Fish

Found mid water about and South of Cook Straight. Delicate white flesh, slightly sweet with a mild smokey flavour. High oil content.

Hake

Restricted to New Zealand but similar species elsewhere.  Found in South Island in 200-800m water. Very moist white flesh, slightly sweet with a mild smokey flavour.  Flakes easily and has a low oil content.

Hoki

Deep water species found off the West Coast of South Island and Cook Straight.  Delicate, moist flesh with mild smokey flavour.  Flakes easily.

Mackerel

Found mid water in most coastal waters.  For those who prefer a stronger flavoured fish.  Ideal in pies and hash. Darker flesh colour and high oil content.  Great value for money!  Available plain or with Lemon Pepper or Cajun Chilli flavours.

Tarakihi

Found in the cooler waters South of East Cape and around the South Island in 100-250m water.  White flesh, medium-firm texture.  Very mild, slightly sweet flavour.

Eel

The latest edition to our range and proving popular.  Sourced from the South Island West Coast, smoked eel makes a delicious entree or try making your own pate.

Greenshell Mussels

Fresh from the Marlborough Sounds and unique to New Zealand, they are one of the top two 'eco friendly seafoods' in the World and high in Omega-3. We smoke the mussels delicately and then marinade in our own special mix which adds to their unique flavour. Available in pottles with our standard marinade or vacuum packed with garlic, chilli or BBQ sauces or in a convenient tri-pack with all three flavours

Vacuum packed mussels have a shelf life of up to 28 days also whilst pottles and tri pack variants have 12 days.
